Facebook to charge 20% VAT on ads purchase in Russia from 2019

MOSCOW, Nov 28 (PRIME) -- Facebook will start charging a 20% value-added tax for purchases of advertisements in Russia from January 2019, and the policy will apply to all advertising accounts in which Russia is indicated as a company’s country, the U.S. social network said in a statement, seen by PRIME on Wednesday.

The companies are asked to go to their account’s settings and check the title, address, and tax reference number.

The tax will be charged regardless of the purposes of a purchase of advertisements on Facebook, be they commercial or personal.
